Oil on canvas, 200 × 240 cm (H × W)
I created Tribute to Petch in memory of Petch Osathanugrah, a visionary Thai collector, founder of Dib Bangkok, and a friend.
I did not want to paint a solemn commemorative portrait. I wanted to preserve the intensity of his presence—his strength, flamboyance, freedom, and creative energy. The red conveys his powerful personality, while the fluorescent green evokes his vitality. Behind his glasses, Petch remains both visible and elusive, revealing himself while keeping his mystery.
Petch devoted much of his life to looking at, selecting, and preserving the works of other artists. In this painting, the collector becomes the subject of our gaze. His personal vision survived him and has become a shared cultural legacy.
