OUT OF THIN AIR
An empty can of polyurethane foam let out its last breath. What emerged looked like a cloud, the kind Duchamp might have called “evaporation.”
I kept it for years, knowing exactly what I had in front of me: a sculpture. Not a readymade, but a chosen object whose unexpected form had turned an ordinary manufactured product into an unmistakable work of art. I had always seen it that way.
I chose to preserve that form, to give it permanence. I had it cast in bronze.
