SERENITY. 1996

Serenity , ceramic head enclosed in a cube of fluorescent light

Ceramic, fluorescent tubes and powder

Dimensions: 120 × 120 × 120 cm

Enclosed within a cube of fluorescent light, the illuminated ceramic head contrasts with the irregular, almost fragile presence of the face.

The fluorescent tubes are not simply a source of illumination. They are part of the sculpture itself, forming a luminous space in which the human figure appears both exposed and confined. Protected.

Serenity. The face rests inside the space of light as if nothing could disturb it. The luminous bars do not press on it; they hold it in a quiet glow, and the stillness of the ceramic makes confinement a form of peace.
