H2O begins with an ordinary plastic bottle, compressed and distorted until its shape suggests the presence of a human body. The resemblance emerges from the transformation of the object itself, which remains recognisable as a bottle.
The sculpture explores the essential relationship between humanity and water, a resource increasingly threatened by global warming, drought and scarcity. What we take for granted today may become one of the most precious resources of tomorrow.
Cast in brass, plated with dark chrome and enlarged to monumental proportions, the fragile, disposable bottle becomes a permanent object. This paradox lies at the heart of H2O, transforming an everyday object into a reflection on our dependence on water and the uncertainty of our future.
