Sunflower, 2015
Oil on canvas
120 × 120 cm
In Sunflower, the flower is no longer represented simply as a botanical subject. It becomes a vibrant, almost cosmic mass, built through an accumulation of lines, marks, and layers of material. Deep blue dominates the centre of the painting, while yellows and golds radiate outward, as if light were passing through the surface.
At once flower, sun, and abstract landscape, the image moves between observation of nature and the dissolution of form.
