Painted in 2018, Ada marks the beginning of the research that would later develop into the Magic Gold series, in which the portrait gradually appears as the viewer moves in front of the painting.
Here, the effect is still emerging. The face seems to surface from the composition, suspended between presence and disappearance. The work already contains the principle that would define the later paintings: an image that is not immediately given, but slowly reveals itself to the eye.
