In Red Mood, the portrait emerges through layers of colour, signs and fragmented forms. Reds, yellows and dark tones overlap across the face, creating a tension between identity and abstraction. The figure remains recognisable, but seems to dissolve into the surface of the painting, as if memory, emotion and image were being superimposed.
